Have you been to the gardens? It looks like my kids would have fun there. I’ll have to wait for another free day before I can take them!

Last night, I went to Safeway for my weekly shopping trip. I wasn’t that organized and had to take my husband along. Neither of these things make me happy.

I had taken my kids to visit my sister in Denver while my husband worked so I didn’t get any time to make a comprehensive list. I had just two coupons and several items that could be very pricey on my list. I was nervous. $100 was my absolute limit.  And again—I had my husband in tow.

My first surprise came in the produce section where I spotted the small jars of artichoke hearts for just 99 cents. Yummy. I grabbed three, since I normally don’t see that price at Safeway.

I sent my husband in search of popcorn while I headed to the beauty aisle. I needed makeup remover cloths. This is why:

Makeup remover clothes can be expensive. I’ve paid $6 for them before. But being a busy mom, I have to have them. They are a necessity not a luxury for me. If I didn’t have them, I would go to bed with makeup on every night. Luck would have it I had run out of them before heading to Denver. When we got home, my girls discovered my makeup and made themselves up like they were members of KISS.

So here was my second surprise, since I always look at the bottom shelves in the beauty aisle–I found face wipes for just 88 cents. Rock bottom deal! So again, I picked up three. You never know what the price will be tomorrow.

So despite the items my husband picked up, I spent $98 and change.

Yes, I get excited about a good bargain. I get really excited about a great bargain.

What kind of surprises do you find when you shop?

It’s Denver Arts Week and to celebrate–you get a good deal. 11 museums in the Denver metro are offering free admission Saturday night. Bonus—there’s a free shuttle to take you around.

My co-worker Bea found this deal for me.

Here’s additional information from her article on NewsFirst5.com

The venerable Museum of Nature and Science, Denver Art Museum and Colorado History Museum are all free. So are smaller venues such as the Molly Brown House, Museo de las Americas and Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art.

To make things really easy for you, free shuttles will run from Cherry Creek Shopping Center to Denver Art Museum to relieve congestion in downtown. Free admission is offered from 5-10 pm.
