Brief Cool Blast

Sunday was cool and windy but winds will relax Sunday night allowing for the temperatures to dip into the low 30s. Much of the area will have a light freeze. A Red Flag Warning was issued Sunday as a result of gusty winds, low dewpoints, and a moderate drought. These conditions could cause fires to burn out of control so the warning keeps residents in the area from burning at the time. We also had reports of very low water levels near shore and in channels during the early morning hours. As low as -3 feet mean low level water at low tide was recorded 11 miles SE of Pecan Island.

Freezing temperatures are expected from South Texas all the way up to Maine with a rare winter storm blasting throught the southeast. Northern Georgia received about 7 inches of snow with totals up to 15 inches expected in New England.

Through the week high pressure will dominate keeping skies clear with a quick warm-up starting Wednesday. Not a chance of rain is in the forecast through the weekend.

Enjoy your week!
