Cool Polar air has settled into Acadiana as lows Thursday night will dip to about 35. We could even have some patchy frost before we warm up to 62 Friday. High pressure will give us sunny skies again Friday afternoon but it’s moving east, making room for the next front still expected to roll through Saturday evening. Now computer models are backing off on the moisture return before the front and the upper level support for strong to severe storms. It looks like we’ll see a line of showers moving through with the front and only about a 40% coverage. The upper level low is expected to stay well south of here making strong storms in the Gulf.
So we’re looking at a lower rain chances without severe weather but the timing of the front still is not convenient. It could be anywhere from 5-10 pm, prime Bonaparte time. At least the early parades look decent right now. Sunday the cold blast pushes in and highs will stay int the 50s with windy conditions. Mardi Gras forecasts continue to get better with temperatures reaching into the 60s with partly cloudy skies.
