We are still watching a disturbance near the Windward Islands this morning. Not much has changed with this tropical wave, and models suggest this wave will struggle to develop as it moves over the islands and into the Caribbean. Once in the Caribbean it should continue to move west, and has a chance for some development a couple of days from now. Extended models suggest that this wave will still struggle for development because conditions in the mid and upper levels of the atmosphere will be hostile for tropical storm development.
A stationary front draped across the gulf coast will sit still for a couple of more days. A weak low pressure area has developed near the mouth of the Mississippi. Occasionally these lows can develop into a tropical depression, but the latest models don’t change this particular low much over the next couple of days. This means unsettled weather will linger into Friday, with conditions improving over the weekend.
