Weekend Changes

leave a comment

We look to be on track for plenty of cloud cover as we head into the weekend with slightly cooler temperatures tonight and tomorrow. Some partial sunshine tomorrow afternoon may allow the mercury to push into the lower 70s. We are also on track for a good chance of showers and thunderstorms for Saturday with locally a couple of inches of rain possible. Some strong storms capable of producing gusty winds can be anticipated as well. Right now we are not hatched in for severe weather. You can check out the severe weather outlooks at the Storm Prediction Center (go to the “Day 3″ forecast for our area).

I’ve brought down the rain chances for Sunday and Monday as the jet stream dynamics look to stay north of the area…although we can’t rule out a few spotty showers for both of those days. Temperatures will stay warm until late Tuesday when a cool front arrives with scattered storms.

The weather will be dry and should be more seasonal later next week.

Program Note: Friday night’s 10pm weathercast I’ll be talking about the winter outlook for our area…stay tuned for the chilly details!

Happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving

Lots of sun and mild temps for today, but a bit cooler with clouds Friday. Looks like a system coming out of Mexico and south Texas will bring rain and thunderstorms Saturday. Sunday’s travel looks better with rain ending in the morning Sunday. Enjoy the food today!

A Dry Turkey…Wet Leftovers!

leave a comment

I’m with Dave! I’ll take 70s anytime of the year, and it always feels better when the north is in the deep freeze!

While our Thanksgiving looks fantastic weather-wise, it appears that when we are preparing and consuming our turkey salads it will be cloudy, and eventually wet. A disturbance in the sub-tropical jet stream should give us a good shot of storms on Saturday, while a secondary system embedded in the polar jet stream will yeild another round of storms by late Sunday into early Monday.

Both of the systems this weekend will be capable of producing strong storms, and there should be ample dynamics to produce severe weather anywhere from Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Pinpointing the greatest threat at this time would be premature…so stay tuned!

We are however predicting scattered to numerous full tummies tomorrow afternoon.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Great Weather For Now

leave a comment

Lots of sunshine and warmer temps in store for today and Thanksgiving, with rain and storms moving in for the weekend. Looks like highs will be in the 70s for the next few days. Traveling should be fine for most of the south today and tomorrow, but with rain and storms possible over the weekend, many travelers will be delayed on the way home. After seeing the travelers in the northeast and midwest stranded by rain, snow and bitter cold temps, I’ll take a 75 degree Thanksgiving any day!

Changes for the Weekend

leave a comment

Nice and stable conditions over the next few days will yield to increased cloud cover on Friday and then a good chance of rain and storms this weekend into early next week. We could see some “dynamic” weather SaturdaY through Monday as a series of energetic disturbances move through. There will be the possibility of severe weather as well, perhaps with Monday’s system. In the past we have seen some strong weather events in November so we’ll be watching this one closely.

Getting Warmer

Looks like the southerly flow will return by Wednesday and milder temps will be with us through the holiday. Some rain will move in later this weekend, and it looks like most of the very cold air will stay in the Northeast.

Nice Week to be Off!

leave a comment

Our weather will stay on cruise-control through the rest of the week with a nice warm-up for Thanksgiving. Rain chances should return to the area this weekend with an active weather pattern eventually producing a good chance of storms early next week.

This is a good week to have off as many of us are getting into the outdoor holiday decorating mode. Alternate outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing are in many plans this week too. Check out the sunrise/sunset calculator for your reference including moon phases.

Sunny Skies Return

leave a comment

After a laying around watching movies weekend weather pattern, some of the kids off from school for parts of this week should be able to move back outside. It will be sunny and dry for most of the week. A chilly, but pleasant start, and warming up for the Thanksgiving holiday. Looks like we will be back in the 70s by Thursday. Could see a few showers for the weekend. Good luck with the kids home this week!

Sunny Skies on the Way!

leave a comment

It was a gloomy day but cloudy skies will dissipate overnight and early tomorrow. Through the week look for lots of sunshine with warmer temperatures.

Tropical storm Gamma has begun to weaken significantly and will not threaten south Florida. The rest of the tropics are quiet.
Enjoy your week and the nice weather!

Rain Showers

leave a comment

Temperatures were definitely warmer today and the mild weather will stay for the next few days. An upper level disturbance mixed with some mid level moisture will help some showers develop for Sunday. Rain should be gone by early Monday morning as high pressure keeps us dry through the week.
