The US Postal Service made some changes after our hidden camera investigation showed a letter carrier being driven to, from and around his route by other post office employees.  The letter carrier had lost his drivers license after a 2nd DUI.

At first the Postal Service defended the action.  Then after our story hit the airwaves & internet they switched gears and reassigned the employee to work inside.

We still had more questions though.  Like, how often does this kind of “DUI-driving-the-letter-carrier around” thing happen in the country.  We received emails from across the country from post office employees claiming it happened at their local offices.  A few included offices in Idaho, New York and Kentucky. 

So, we decided to ask the USPS Office of Inspector General some questions about it. Afterall, according to their own website, they play “a key role in maintaining the integrity and accountability of America’s postal service, its revenue and assets, and its employees.”

Perfect. 

They must be interested in helping us get to the bottom of this, at least to “maintain the integrity and accountability of America’s postal service.”

Wrong.

They told Al to call us and answer our questions.  After  I specifically went to the Inspector General, they sent a PR guy to try to placate us instead of letting us talk to one of their 1,100 auditors about the data mining that would be required to get some answers. 

Of course, Al didn’t have the answers.  Indeed, he said he tried to get the answers, but it would be a very complex and difficult process because the USPS doesn’t keep track of those kinds of records.  Exact quote now from Al,  “they (USPS) don’t maintain those records on a national level, regional level, even on a local district level.”

Don’t keep track of how many of your drivers have DUI’s?

Several stories buried in this one, and we’re still working on them.  On one hand, it appears someone law enforcement may have messed up, which is what this first story is about.  In fact, our tip on this story is from inside law enforcement, but that’s all I can say because the person is putting their job on the line to try to shed light on what they see as a troubling situation.

Another story inside this one is the impact of suspected drug and gang activity on a family and neighborhood.  I have no proof the 2 victims we spoke with are gang members, they deny they are.  Obviously, the 3 children are the truly innocent victims in this.  

It cannot be denied though, the husband is facing drug and weapons charges and law enforcement claims he is a top tier member of the La Familia-Surenos gang in Colorado Springs - it allegedly has ties to a larger Mexican gang suspected of bringing meth and other drugs into the Pikes Peak region.  He was arrested last month in a meth distribution sting from Denver to Pueblo.  Yes, there is much more to this sad story.

Getting married at Garden of the Gods

My Family doesn’t really care about me posting my work stuff here, they keep telling me, ‘We want to see more wedding pictures!’  So, since most Jarmans, including me, apparently don’t use facebook, or can’t find Nicole’s private facebook page, here are a few more.

Creanne is Steve & Holly’s only daughter. Sometimes, like here, she just breaks out in song and dance. 

My daughter Olivia & little sister Kathryn at Stacy Kaiser’s house getting ready for the wedding with Nicole and the girls. We were at the wedding site waiting for all of them for an hour. 

Here are my parents. When I told them they can see more wedding pictures at Nicole’s facebook, they asked “Well, when can we borrow her book?”  In this photo they’re bringing my other nephew, Nolan, to the wedding site. Yes, Nolan’s another of Steve’s boys.

During the hour we waited for the girls, Steve & I played games with the boys, like “let’s see who can stand still and quiet the longest.”

The crew that could make it on short notice. We’d planned to have the wedding next August and have a 2 year engagement. Nicole decided that was too long to wait.

At the reception – Nicole, Steve, Holly, Nolan and the newest Jarman, Ian.  At this point Nicole is starting to get nervous, because I told her my brother challenged me to a “kid-off”  – a game to see who can have the most Jarmans.   

Apparently Olivia and Nicole’s niece, Tera, are happy to be cousins now.
