Turkey Dinner

This past week I did not have anything to talk about. I knew I was working on Thanksgiving, so I wanted to Smoke a Turkey. I bought one last week, and smoked it in my Old Smokey smoker. I got a 12lbs Turkey and I used Apple wood chips. Set the smoker for medium high placed the turkey in the smoker and walked away. ‘Set it and forget it’

I left the push out thermometer in and in 3hrs 20min later I was pulling the meet off the bone.

The Turkey was so good. Nice and moist. I was impressed with the way you would pull the leg and the meat fell right off of it.

Damn it was good. Leftovers for the week!

They shut down about 5 city blocks and it is one killer market. I just love it. But the thing to o there is eat, and Moe’s is killer bbQ. Just love it!

$16.00 of Meat

When you Spend $16.00 for a piece of meat, you do not want to screw it up! I bought Tri-Tip at the store, added my seasoning, did not want to go crazy, but in the end, I went a tad light. A lot of pressure since this is my wife’s favorite type of bbq. It is famous for Santa Maria Style BBQ. Did the french Bread too… It turned out well. She liked it the neighbors LOVED IT. I think I could have done way better!! Next time I think I will sear each side to get some burnt ends and then move it to the top rack and cook from there.

At the end of the day it was good. Will change my method next time.

BBQ… Smoker

Temp

I have Entered into the world of BBQ Smoking!

Which is so much Fun.  I have a unique smoker, it is cold “Old Smokey” Smoker It is a electric smoker. The reason I went with the electric is where I live, where you can not have fire, and I did not want to go to the gas route.  I have done some really great food in it. The best thing is that this unit has no holes, so no water pan is needed. The tight fight keeps the moisture in and the meat tastes so good!

open top

I can not find much information on this somker online, but it is so easy to use.  Very little chips are used, due to the tight seal.

For dinner today, we smoked a Corn Beef, which was to DIE FOR!Corn Beef Each bite you took you could taste the juice from the meat and the smoke flavor.

One thing they tell you not to do is to soak the chips, but today we did, and it was really, really good.

We also did chicken wings. the one negitive side of the smoker is that it will not make the meat crispy, which for some they really like.

wings

Either way, you will not be disappointed with this smoker.

Happy BBQ’n
